Update: Rides with Strangers has been successfully funded to the tune of $32,524, which is just enough to see the title come to PC, plus Xbox One and PS4.

If you missed the Kickstarter you can still pledge via PayPal to help get the total up beyond the next stretch goal of $42,500 to increase the number of strangers to 15.

Original report: Wonderfully terrifying indie game Rides with Strangers has reached its initial Kickstarter funding goal of $25,000.

“We have met out goal!!!” reads an update on the Kickstarter. “Now going for our first stretch goal of $32,000 for the PS4/Xbox One port!”

With the funding currently at $25,509 a further $6,500 is needed to make the console editions a reality.

Rides with Strangers puts players in the often terrifying position of having to hitch a ride with 10 strangers.

“Every Stranger who will welcome you into their car tonight has been meticulously constructed, from their design to their dialogue, to represent the link that exists outside of polite society,” reads the blurb. “Will you be prepared to face them knowing that these horrors could very well exist within your real waking world? Will you be able to put down this game and return to your regular life, watching strangers pass, knowing this could happen to you?

“Whoever you end up sharing the ride with, remember to keep a careful, watchful eye. Remember, despite the small talk, that they are not your saviour but a wolf in sheep’s skin.”

The development team also has ideas to expand the scope of the game with additional funding.

$42,500– 15 Strangers

$52,500– Occults Rift Compatible

$65,000– 20 Strangers
