Back at E3, Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi strongly hinted that the control scheme in the then current version of Resident Evil 5 would be getting somewhat of an overhaul, with the Tokyo Game Show the likely venue for their debut.
Following Microsoft’s Japanese media briefing yesterday, Takeuchi confirmed that the new control scheme will be available to try out on the TGS showroom floor. No specifics were revealed, but he did liken them to Gears of War.
This strengthens earlier rumours that the new controls will support a run-and-gun style gameplay, as opposed to the traditional move, stop, shoot mechanics fans of the series will be used to.
Resident Evil 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 13, 2009.
