Respawn Entertainment’s sci-fi shooter will release during 2013, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has speculated.

Talking to GamesIndustry about a potential downturn in sales for the Call of Duty series, Pachter said that, “Next year [2013], another Battlefield plus the Respawn and Bungie games probably cannibalise [sales of CoD] a bit more”.

Respawn, which was formed by ex-Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, has yet to officially announce details on its first title.

The title is expected to be ‘sci-fi oriented’, and will be published by EA under its Partners label.

Pachter had previously speculated that the settlement between EA and Activision back in May meant that “Activision will not attempt to block or delay the first release from Respawn Entertainment, which we continue to expect in FY:14.”

In addition to Respawn’s game, EA is expected to launch Battlefield 4 during the second half of 2013.

Activision, meanwhile, will be launching the first game in Bungie’s Destiny series and, presumably, a new version of Call of Duty.
