Respawn Entertainment co-founder Jason West has departed the studio, studio head Vince Zampella has confirmed.
In a blog post on the developer’s website, Zampella announced West had left the studio “to take care of some family issues,” adding that he was “sad to see things come to an end” between them.
“We have worked together on some amazing accomplishments over the years,” said Zampella.
“It is sad to see things come to an end, but there are times when change is best for growth, both personally and professionally. I wish Jason the best and send my best wishes to his family.”
Zampella co-founded Respawn Entertainment with West following the pair’s departure from Infinity Ward in 2010.
Rumours regarding West’s departure first emerged yesterday, when it was suggested that the Call of Duty co-creator had left Respawn shortly after West and Zampella’s lawsuit with Activision was settled last May.
In the same post, Zampella also appeared to confirm that Respawn would be revealing its first title at this year’s E3, after teasing the reveal on Twitter last week.
“Respawn continues to amaze me,” he continued, “the team here is resilient and talented. E3 will be therapeutic for us, as we finally get to start showing our work again.
“I know the team was excited about the response we got from just admitting we were going to attend.”
Respawn’s first game is rumoured to be a sci-fi first-person shooter.
