Capcom has announced that worldwide shipments of Resident Evil 7 biohazard have surpassed 2.5 million units worldwide.
2.5 million units is nothing to sneeze at, but Square Enix scored double the sales for Final Fantasy XV, shipping five million units on day one late last year.
The 2.5 million figure also comes in quite a way short of the bullish 4 million units which Capcom EMEA marketing director Antoine Molant believed the game was capable of achieving.
Cumulative sales for games in the Resident Evil franchise – launched back in 1996 – have reached more than 75 million units.
Capcom also announced that the various versions of the Resident Evil 7 demo have exceeded 7.15 million downloads, a record for the game franchise.
