Remedy Entertainment is still working to bring Max Payne and it’s sequel Max Payne 2 to modern audiences. While details are still very sparse regarding the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake project, the Finnish game studio’s latest financials have revealed that the game is still under heavy production.

Remedy gives Max Payne Remake update
In the studio’s latest financial report, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that the upcoming remake duology is in “full production”, but the studio didn’t explain how long development will continue on the series’ long-awaited return.
“The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake project continues its progress and remains in full production. In the second quarter, the team built on steady momentum from earlier in the year,” Remedy Entertainment told shareholders in its financial report.
Alongside the knowledge that the game is still in heavy production, Remedy also confirmed that the studio is still collaborating with Rockstar Games, the company behind GTA 6. Remedy Entertainment sold the Max Payne IP to Rockstar back in 2002, and the studio ended up creating the still great but controversial third entry back in 2012.
Accoridng to Remedy, Rockstar Games’ collaboration is proving fruitful with the GTA studio heavily involved in bringing back the first two noire shooters to current-gen gamers. A basic remaster of Max Payne 3 is allegedly also in the works to launch alongside the new remakes.
“Collaboration with Rockstar Games remains close and productive, ensuring alignment as the project advances toward its next major phase,” Remedy Entertainment explained.
With so few details, it’s unknown exactly what form the new remakes will take, although we hope they will ramp up the epic, hard-boiled destruction effects as well as retain the brilliant performance of late actor James McCaffrey who voiced the iconic character.
There’s still no solid release date for Remedy’s upcoming remake project, but it is expected to launch within the next two years.
