Developer Remedy Entertainment has announced that the publishing rights for spooky shooter Alan Wake has now reverted to the publisher.

Revealing the news via an announcement on a recent royalty payment of 2.5 million Euros to the studio for the IP, it means Remedy now has the ability to publish the previous two games – Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare – on platforms other than the Xbox, should it choose to.

Remedy has stated previously that it already owns the Alan Wake IP should it want to make a sequel, but we probably shouldn't expect that any time soon given it was revealed it 'didn't pan out' in a recent interview.

Remedy Entertainment is currently busy anyway working on Control, which is set for an August 27 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
