Remedy Entertainment has announced that a new CEO has been appointed. This was announced courtesy of Remedies investor news. This will see Jean-Charles Gaudechon, a former EA executive, appointed to the position, while Co-founder Markus Mäki will step down as interim and move into a position of supporting Remedy in the background.
The statement cites that “the appointment of Jean-Charles (JC) Gaudechon [is] to lead Remedy into a phase of profitable growth”.
The statement goes on to add:
“We are well-positioned to significantly accelerate growth, guide Remedy towards greater independence through self-publishing, and deliver sustained value to our players, partners, and shareholders.”
In concluding the statement, Jean-Charles Gaudechon added:
“We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way.”
A need for a Remedy?

The news may feel surprising as Remedy has seemed largely financially stable; however, their earnings do paint a starkly different picture. While Remedy saw a 17.5% increase in its earnings compared to 2024, its losses more than tripled from 2024, seeing them operate at a €14.86 million (£12.95 million, $17.69 million) loss.
However, this appointment still raises many red flags. While time will tell how Gaudechon will perform during his time at Remedy, his history as a “Studio Head & Executive Producer” at EA is sure to raise some eyebrows.
Especially as his primary experience was in heading up EA’s free-to-play studio and his LinkedIn proudly lists how he “Led product teams to refine monetization systems”.
While the work history of Gaudechon is frightening, the statement was also quick to assure fans that Remedy remains committed to staying close to its players, so instead of further catastrophising, we sincerely hope this appointment works out for Remedy.
