Multiple staff at Square Enix’s UK and European offices are at risk of redundancy following the publisher’s decision to “review” its European business.

In a statement provided to industry website MCV, Square Enix confirmed that it was “reviewing [its] business in Europe to ensure [it has] the right structure, content and skills for the changing entertainment landscape.

“We do expect changes to the UK office, which will affect personnel,” the publisher continued. “We will update you when the time is right, but our priority right now is for the people within the business.”

Square Enix has seen major changes to its business in recent weeks, including the resignation of CEO Yoichi Wada, following lower than expected sales of key titles, including Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution and Sleeping Dogs.

The company warned investors to expect an “extraordinary loss” to be recorded during the firm’s FY13 results as a result of ‘slow sales of major console game titles in North America and European markets’.
