New downloadable content for Red Dead Redemption is set to be revealed within the next few weeks, Rockstar has said.

On Twitter yesterday, Spanish gamer @Torpedo36 asked when we would see new DLC for the open world Western hit. Rockstar replied: “Look for release date and details in the coming weeks.”

Red Dead Redemption is also currently offering quadruple XP in its multiplayer modes, both in the main game and in the Undead Nightmare expansion. If you’re looking to level up fast, you have until the end of the weekend to make the most of the opportunity.

Undead Nightmare was by far the most interesting of the original add-ons, pitching John Marston into a strange B-Movie setup that parodied many of the characters in the main game. It’s been a fair while since that expansion was released, but has there been enough time to make DLC of similar size and complexity? Let’s hope so.

Even if this turns out to be more multiplayer content, we’d hope that the next DLC would offer new environments: the current maps already cover most of the big locations in Marston’s world.
