Rockstar Games has announced that the beta for Red Dead Online, the multiplayer component for Red Dead Redemption 2, will launch on November 27. Yes, that's tomorrow.

The online westerner will see a staggered release. Initially, the beta will only be available for those who purchased the Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition, and the next day it'll be up for grabs to anyone who played Rockstar's critically acclaimed prequel on launch day.

Following this, Red Dead Online will be available to anyone who played Red Dead 2 within its first three days of release. Finally, November 30 will see all players who own the game gain access to the beta.

We don't really know all that much about Red Dead Online yet. Rockstar has previously said that it will serve as 'an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways.'

Today's news does feature a few extra tidbits, though. Red Dead Online will allow players to join a posse for up to eight players, and engage in activities such as hunting and fishing, as well as scrapping it out with rival gangs and players in 'spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles.'

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and Colm reckons it's well worth a look.

Unsurprisingly, the game has been doing pretty well so far, selling three times as much as its predecessor during its launch month and shipping 17 million copies worldwide.
