Rockstar has said it is aware of a small group of Red Dead Redemption cheats and hackers whose sole purpose is to make the multiplayer experience unpleasant for everyone else.
“To ensure we preserve the integrity of gameplay for all online, we are actively working on new features to counter against the isolated incidents of abuse that go on,” said Rockstar on its official blog.
“Our next title update, planned for release on both Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network within the next month, will include measures to counter hacking and cheating,” continued Rockstar. “Those who have been detected to be cheating beyond a shadow of doubt will be promptly banned from the Red Dead online world for a period of our discretion.”
The update will also implement some anti-grief relief in Free Roam mode.
“Those who are being bullied repeatedly in Free Roam will be given the option to flee by Transporting and re-spawning in a region of the map of their choosing,” explained Rockstar. “And those who are bullying repeatedly will face a new challenge: when a player gets a 6 kill streak in Free Roam, they will become “Most Wanted.” This alerts other players of their status as a player-killer, and also sends NPC law response after them.”
It’s good to see Rockstar is working to ensure a small minority don’t ruin the fun for everyone else.
