Ubisoft has announced that a version of Rainbow Six: Vegas is coming to the PSP this winter. The game will feature a new story, but will run parallel to that of the home console versions.

In the game players will take control of Brian Armstrong, field operative and assault expert, and Shawn Rivers, sniper. Players will be free to switch back and forth between the two, and action will take place in both third and first-person perspectives.

Ubisoft says the game’s controls have been tailored to the PSP, and there’s also a load of unlockable goodies including Terrorist Hunt Mode in which you get to enter a map and take down spawning terrorists.

Online multiplayer is becoming more common in the new generation of PSP titles, and Rainbow Six: Vegas follows this trend, with multiplayer for up to six players in ad hoc and infrastructure modes. Here you’ll have the choice of six classic maps to play in Survival and Team Survival modes.

There’s no official word on a European release yet, but North American retailers have the game down for release on November 7.
