Rainbow Six Siegeâs latest expansion pack â Operation Skull Rain â will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, August 2, Ubisoft has announced.
As with previous expansions, Operation Skull Rain DLC contains two new operators â Caveira and Capitao â and one new map, set in a Brazilian favela, all of which will be available to unlock for free. The operators will be available exclusively to Season Pass holders for 7 days, after which they can be unlocked by spending in-game currency Renown. The map, meanwhile, will be available to all players from launch.
âCaveira is the defensive Operator of the two,â says Ubisoft. âAs such, she possesses the âSilent Stepâ skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammatesâ location. Her arsenal includes an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.
âAs the attacker, Capitão carries a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius, as well as micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitão also has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding her available arsenal.â
Alongside the new operators and map, Operation Rain Skull will also introduce a new angled grip attachment that lets players switch between firing from the hip and ADS more quickly, a new surrender system that lets teams retire from a ranked match, and a new custom game mode called Tactical Realism.
Tactical Realism âprevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD,â says Ubisoft. âAdditionally, there are no kill confirmations, and more realistic magazine management will be put into play. The idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.â
More details on the DLC will be revealed during the gameâs Season Two Xbox Pro League Finals this Saturday, July 30.
UPDATE: Ubisoft has released the first footage of Operation Skull Rainâs new Favela map, which it describes as the âmost destructible map to dateâ.
