PS4 and Xbox One users should notice a significantly improved online experience in Rainbow Six Siege as of today, as Ubisoft rolls out an update to the game’s server tick rate.
As of today, the console game’s tick rate is being increased to 60 times per second, double that of the game’s existing 30 times per second, meaning that each player’s position and activity will be updated twice as regularly as they had been previously. Ultimately, the update should help reduce latency and improve hit registration – one of the areas most commonly criticised by players.
The improved tick rate rolled out to all PC users last week.
New anti-cheating measures are also rolling out across PC and console today, including a new system that will see cheaters banned permanently, and a fix for an exploit that let defenders leave their zone during the preparation phase. Now, if exploits are detected, defenders that leave their zone will be killed instantly.
“This behaviour should not be possible,” Ubisoft says, “but if exploits are found, the guilty shall be punished by a swift death!”
PC players will also see other fixes as of today, including “potential” fixes for the failed data synchronisation issue and loading screen freeze, and a “partial” fix for error [2-0x00000041]. The issues will be addressed on PS4 and Xbox One as of January 20.
