A major new patch for Rainbow Six Siege that aims to fix issues with the game’s hit detection, balancing and netcode is due to roll out across all platforms later today, Ubisoft has announced.

Highlights of the update include an increased tick rate on PC, where it is being doubled from 30 times per second to 60 times per second to help improve the rate at which each player’s position is updated on the server. An update to the console versions’ tick rate will roll out “as soon as possible” following its testing on PC.

The patch also implements an auto-kick feature for intentional team and hostage-killers, which Ubisoft says currently affects 1.8% of matches, and fixes a bug affecting the blood colour, which has been criticised for being too fluorescent.

The time it takes for Defenders to be detected when they venture outside is also being reduced from 5 seconds to 2 seconds, which Ubisoft hopes will help reduce spawn killing.

There are plenty of other issues being fixed, too, including a bug that caused drones to fall through the floor, an issue that caused players to get stuck in the environment, inaccurate kill cams and a major tweak to Glaz’s scope, which significantly reduces the red filter to help enhance visibility. You can see how that looks before and after in the images below.

PC players will also benefit from a new Ultra HD texture pack, which promises to take the characters and weapons “to a new level of visual fidelity”.

The patch is expected to roll out between 6pm-7pm GMT on PC and 7pm-8pm GMT on PS4 and Xbox One.
