UPDATE: Ubisoft has clarified that Rainbow Six Siege will actually ship with 11 multiplayer maps, rather than the 10 quoted by Benoit Deschamps.
ORIGINAL STORY: Rainbow Six Siege will ship with 10 multiplayer maps included on-disc, but more will be released following the game’s launch as DLC, Ubisoft Montreal has confirmed.
Speaking to PC Gamer, level designer Benoit Deschamps explained that the developer initially had ideas for over 50 different environments, but had to reduce that number to 10 for the final game.
“As for now yes, there are ten maps,” he told the site, “but we have more planned because we’re already working on more content for players after launch.”
Ubisoft has yet to formally detail DLC plans for Rainbow Six Siege, but has confirmed the game will receive a Season Pass.
Rainbow Six Siege launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on December 1, with a closed beta test due to begin on all three formats next Thursday, September 24. If you’ve yet to grab a beta key, we’ve still got some to give away here.
