Up until now the online battle between the GDF and Strogg was to be a pleasure enjoyed by PC gamers only, but now next-gen console owners can look forward to it as well. id Software has announced that Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is being ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC game is currently in development at Splash Damage, but each console version is being handled by a separate development team.

We’re pleased to be working with Nerve and Z-Axis to bring the highly-anticipated gameplay from Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars to the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software.

Xbox 360 owners will be able to play the game thanks to the work of Nerve Software (DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil – PC expansion), while PlayStation 3 fans will get a Z-Axis (X-Men: The Official Game) developed port. Details on the ports are slim, but the console versions will be limited to 16 players online. No release date has been announced at this time.
