PUBG Corp. has rolled out a fresh update for chicken dinner-giving shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PC, adding a new progression system called Weapon Mastery. In a nutshell, it allows you to level up your firearms by pouring XP into them.

Each weapon in the game can be levelled up to rank 100, with XP rewarded for inflicting damage, scoring headshots, and dispatching enemies. In addition, you’ll net bonus XP for scoring a Defeat, which is given out for ‘knockdowns, killing the last member of a team, and killing solo players.’

Players can also get their hands on three reward types by increasing weapon ranks. One of these is the Rainbow Six Siege-style charms, which are keychains that can be attached to the left side of your weapon’s barrel.

‘You can equip and see which charms you have unlocked from inside the Mastery tab. We're launching with 20 unique charms that must be earned on a per weapon basis and it's a safe bet that there are more on the way,’ said PUBG. Corp.

Meanwhile, Emblems are dished out for hitting level 10, 20, 30, and all the way up to 100 for your chosen weapon. Finally, Medals are given as a ‘way of highlighting the awesome accomplishments you perform.’
