The developer behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has revealed it will be giving map selection the boot in a future update.

This might come as a surprise seeing as how the feature was only added quite recently, and allowed players to select which map they wanted to throw into their queue. Given that PUBG only has two maps right now, it was a choice between Erangel and Miramar.

Of course, Miramar didn't prove all that popular with players, so the map selection feature was something of a blessing.

However, beginning June 22 for PC map, selection will no longer be a thing. Well, sort of. Full map toggling will be removed with the arrival of the Sanhok map, but you will have the choice of playing only this map, or a choice between all three maps at random.

You won't, however, be able to pick Erangel without including Miramar or Sanhok.

'The matchmaking pool gets split into many small sections, making it nearly impossible to put together a match in at least some of those queues,' explained PUBG Corp.
