Like the Chicken Dinner t-shirts that celebrated the end of its early access period, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is celebrating turning a year old the only way it knows how: with a cosmetic skin. Specifically, a cosmetic skin for a gun, the Year One – SCAR-L. It says WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! and #1 on it.
Anyone who logs in to play the original Battle Royale game (until May 1) will get the black and yellow beauty. I mean, they could have done it in all birthday cake colours or done a party hat or something, but that would probably have sacrificed camouflage and therefore vital tactical advantage.
The skin is neither tradable nor destructable, so you’re stuck with it for life once you get it. It comes as part of the weapon skin patch that rolled out on test servers this week, the first time weapon skins have appeared in the game. Unsurprisingly you can only get skins in crates, either the Triumph or the Raider crates (the latter being free, and the former being, you guessed it, unlocked with a key you have to buy).
We look forwards to PUBG reaching its terrible twos.
