Psychonauts 2 is out this August, and there is a new trailer showing off its brain-diving nuttiness.

It was nice to see more of the game, during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. It feels as if the game has been drifting in the ether for some times.

Check out the trailer:

The description reads:

“Combining quirky missions and mysterious conspiracies, Psychonauts 2 is a platform-adventure game with cinematic style and tons of customizable psychic powers. Psychonauts 2 serves up danger, excitement, and laughs in equal measure as players guide Raz on a journey through the minds of friends and foes on a quest to defeat a murderous psychic villain.”

Psychonauts 2 is—it may shock you—a sequel to Psychonauts, which came out in 2006. The original is now something of a cult classic. It was written by Tim Schafer and Erik Wolpaw, and was developed by Double Fine Productions. So is the sequel.

In the VideoGamer review of the original, Tom Orry said, “It’s no secret that Psychonauts failed abysmally in the US sales charts, but it’s got absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the game.”

Psychonauts 2 is out on Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One, on August 25. It is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.
