Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 has reached its $3.3 million funding goal on fig with five days remaining.
Double Fine actually needs $10-$13.5 million to develop the sequel, so is putting up a “significant portion of the development funds” itself and obtaining further investment from an external partner.
“We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible,” reads an update on the fig project. “We’ve wanted to make this game for a long time, and now we finally can! So thank you, thank you, thank you!”
The update continues: “So what happens next? Well, we still have 5 days to go, so we’ll be continuing the campaign. Everything we raise will go into making the game better, bigger, and shinier, so let’s keep going!”
Psychonauts 2 is targeting a summer 2018 release date.
