Earlier in the year rumours broke that Bethesda Softworks’ smash hit RPG Oblivion was heading to the PlayStation 3 and the PSP. The source of this information was an alleged leaked release schedule from Bethesda, which listed both the PSP and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. The rumour slowly died down, but now it’s back for more.

The rumoured titles have now been listed on EB Games and Gamestop, and whilst obviously cannot be taken as proof of each game’s existence, there must be a reason why the titles have been listed. According to the retailers, the PS3 version is scheduled for release alongside the console on November 17, with the PSP version arriving on March 15, 2007.

Speaking to Gamepro, Bethesda Softworks’ Pete Hines responded to the rumours, stating that it’s “just an assumption” and that there are “no announced plans for any other version right now.” That’s a clear maybe then. For now, don’t bank on Oblivion coming to either the PSP or PS3, but it certainly hasn’t been ruled out.
