Killzone: Shadow Fall supports the PS4’s PlayGo functionality, allowing players get get gaming before the whole game is downloaded, but it’s been confirmed that this initial download is still a sizeable 7.5GB.

Whilst this is an improvement on having to download the whole 39.7GB game, many gamers will struggle to download 7.5GB in quick time.

Guerrilla’s technical director Michiel van der Leeuw agrees that this isn’t ideal, but does believe this will improve with future games.

“Realistically, I think a lot of people can do this… It’s just that the initial chunk of 7.5GB is quite big,” van der Leeuw told Eurogamer at Guerrilla’s office in Amsterdam. “I think if we would have known exactly how everything would work… I think next time around we’ll try to see if we can design something that doesn’t jeopardise the game which will make it even friendlier.

“But I think all things considered, this being launch and we’ve got like 2 minutes 44 from disc to the first level and no installs, I think it’s already a massive improvement over previous generations.”

Killzone: Shadow Fall will be released November 29 in the UK.
