The Media Player app on PS4 Pro is being updated tomorrow to enable the playback of 4K video content, Sony has announced.
4K video in mp4 format saved on a USB stick or home server will be playable.
Furthermore, Media Player will also update to support playback of 4K VR video content. Though not 4K quality, the PS VR’s display resolution of 1920 x RGB x 1080 will enable video playback of a higher quality than HD VR videos, says Sony.
All this comes in addition to 4K streaming support in apps such as Netflix and YouTube.
