A downright gorgeous PS1-style Twin Peaks fan game may no longer continue development following Paramount’s takedown of its beautiful demo. Twin Peaks: Into the Night, the team behind the free fan game don’t know if they can keep creating their dream game.

Twin Peaks: Into the Night was a recreation of the TV show in the format of a PS1 survival horror game. Largely a puzzle game, simply due to the major lack of combat in the David Lynch show, the this exciting adaptation was something to look forward to.

Twin Peaks: Into the Night removed by Paramount

Unfortunately, Paramount has taken down the game’s PC demo from indie game service Itch.io randomly after two years of availability. On July 17, 2025, Paramount issued a takedown notice for “infringement of Paramount’s rights”.

In a letter to fans, the developers behind the project explained that they were still working on the fan game and “had picked up the pace again” in recent weeks. Unfortunately, the team may not be to keep working on the project as it would be another infringement of Paramount’s rights following prior warning.

“Despite our disappointment, this was a somewhat expected event and we must respect their decision,” the team explained. “We’ve always been aware of the risks and are already proud and grateful that our demo has been able to exist for nearly two years, with you.”

The team behind the fan game explained that they “can no longer promise any continuation” but will spend a “few weeks to try and find a positive solution for the future of the project. At the time of writing, the demo for Twin Peaks: Into the Night has been removed from its original home, but someone out there probably has it downloaded.

Hopefully, the team behind the project find some way of re-using the work they’ve done to make a spiritual successor to Twin Peaks in video game form. After all, it would be a shame to see two years of work flushed down the drain for no reason.

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s beautiful crime drama has only had one official video game: Twin Peaks VR. Unfortunately, that VR game is, well, barely a game, although Lynch did consult on the title before its release. Really, Into the Night was the only shot of us actually getting a real game based on the series.
