The PlayStation Vita recorded a 75 per cent rise in sales for the week ended July 1 in Japan, jumping from around 13,000 units to 22,638 units, reports Andriasang.

The considerable increase can be attributed to the double whammy of the launch of the Crystal White PS Vita and the debut of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid HD which sold 23,586 copies.

The PS Vita was actually the second best-selling platform of the week, behind only the 3DS which shifted 65,267 units. PS3 sold 16,399 units and the PSP managed 11,461 units.
