Update: Tomb Raider Anniversary was originally planned to release on October 21st, but it has been delayed with a new release date of November 18th on the PSN store. This is when it will join the PS Plus Premium catalogue.
Original story:
The PSN store may have spoiled the surprise addition of Tomb Raider Anniversary for PS Plus Premium. Sony’s next batch of Extra and Premium games are scheduled to come out on October 21st, and, interestingly, this is the same release date for the PS2 port of Tomb Raider Anniversary listed on the PSN store.
Sony’s September State of Play announced Tomb Raider Anniversary will join PS Plus “later this year,” along with SoulCalibur 3. However, its release date suggests it is joining Sony’s subscription service next week, even though it is not part of the confirmed PS Plus Extra and Premium October 2025 games.
As for why Sony hasn’t confirmed Tomb Raider Anniversary’s inclusion, it’s possible it could be a surprise announcement Crystal Dynamics intend to celebrate the series’ anniversary. The first ever Tomb Raider was released for PS1 on October 25th, 1996, so this year the franchise turns 29-years old.
There have been unannounced additions to PS Plus before such as the sudden day one release of The Rogue Prince of Persia for Extra back in August. It’s likely Sony is doing something similar with Tomb Raider Anniversary, only we will have to act surprised.
PS Plus October 2025 Extra and Premium Games
Below is the official PS Plus October 2025 Extra and Premium additions arriving on October 21st:
Extra:
- Silent Hill 2 (2024 remake)
- Until Dawn (2024 remake)
- V Rising
- Yakuza Like A Dragon
- As Dusk Falls
- Poppy Playtime Chapter 1
- Wizard With A Gun
Premium:
- Tekken 3
Assuming Tomb Raider Anniversary joins, too, it will be for the Premium tier. It will also be available on the PSN store, and we expect it to cost the same as Tomb Raider Legend, £15.99. While Premium is the most expensive tier, 12-months of PS Plus is still $200 cheaper than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
As for the future of Tomb Raider, there’s a lot to anticipate. We’ve been blessed with a “sneak peek” of Lara’s continuing transformation in Netflix Season 2, and Sophie Turner is officially cast as Lara for a live-action Amazon Prime series. Most importantly though, Crystal Dynamics are hard at work on Tomb Raider 12, a new mainline AAA installment set to be published by Amazon Games and using Unreal Engine 5.
