In the UK we’ve only had the pleasure of having Professor Layton and the Curious Village available to buy in stores – we’re still waiting for The Devil’s Box and The Final Time Journey – but in Japan the series is preparing to start an all-new puzzling trilogy.

According to the latest issue of Japanese video game magazine Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), Professor Layton and the Demon God’s Flute will be released in Japan this autumn and is the first of a planned trilogy.

The first game’s story recounts a legend in which a giant destroyed a village. The game is also set three years prior to Curious Village and will reveal how Professor Layton met his apprentice Luke.
