Despite being named after her, The Legend of Zelda franchise doesn't actually let you play as Princess Zelda. That honor goes to Link of course, the pointy-eared protagonist who has to slog it out and rescue Zelda from the clutches of Ganon (or another resident baddie) to save the day.
That's all about to change with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, however.
A dedicated 20-strong group of modders are attempting to give Zelda her very own adventure within Breath of the Wild's majestic open-world playground. This goes beyond just chucking Zelda's avatar into the action; they've recorded exclusive dialogue for her, given her hand-designed outfits, and various other bits and bobs to create an authentic Zelda experience.
It's a massive undertaking to say the least and really bloody impressive, so be sure to have a gander at the results below.
