Scot Miller, CEO of 3D Realms, has been talking about Prey, and in particular that a demo of the game should be made available before the game is released. Whether this will also include a demo for the Xbox 360 version of the game is uncertain. Speaking of release dates, 2K Games has announced that Prey will be arriving in the US in July. Hopefully a European release won’t be too far behind.
Miller, who was speaking to the Game Matters blog, said that “the demo will be our most important marketing tool for the game, by a long shot.” He went on to liken Prey to the TiVo service (something similar to Sky+ but with more brains).
“Even watching the videos of the game in full glory will not convey to you why this game is truly something different, just as watch Tivo in action is not the same as finally owning it yourself, and coming to realise what a change it is,” said Miller.
Rather confidently Miller also expects the game “to average around 88-92 in review scores.” He’ll be hoping he isn’t forced to eat his words come July.
