Going head-to-head with SEGA’s Football Manager this winter will be Eidos Interactive’s Championship Manager 2008. Eidos has announced that the latest instalment will be available for PC in the run-up to Christmas and promises the most accessible title in the series to date.
Developed by Beautiful Game Studios, Championship Manager 2008 has been fully updated for the 2007/2008 football season and also sports a completely new look with new skins, menu shortcuts and an improved user interface.
The match engine has also been overhauled, now promising improved realism thanks to the analysis of each player on the pitch and taking into account their real-life tendencies. A player that likes to overlap and send crosses from the by-line will try and do this as much as possible in the simulated game. As a manager it will also be possible to train players to incorporate tendencies into their skill set.
The 3D match engine will also show players jostling for position with the opposition, sliding in for tackles and keepers diving for the ball. ProZone which debuted in 2007 also returns, offering managers a fully integrated post match analysis tool.
Other additions include multiplayer action on a single PC and the inclusion of Australian leagues.
Expect more details, including a release date, to be announced later this year.
