Portal Knights developer Keen Games has announced details on the new Villainous Update, which is now available for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions of the fantasy-flavoured RPG.

Players will find themselves squaring off against three new bosses as part of the new update, namely the Slime Queen, Knight Hunter, and All-Watcher. They're tough buggers to topple, but will apparently reward players handsomely when defeated.

In addition, the Villainous Update includes a new area to explore in the shape of The Ranger's Guild Bodkins Point, which offers a bunch of distractions such as extra quests, NPCs, merchants, and more.

Meanwhile, Creative Mode now offers an unlimited water source as well as side-by-side chest management, allowing you to set up mass item transfers and stacking in your inventory.

The Villainous Update will arrive for the Mobile version of Portal Knights on September 6 and is also in the pipeline for Nintendo Switch. In regards to the latter, the Villainous Update will be bundled together with the Creator's Update.

Portal Knights hit Steam Early Access in February 2016 and arrived on PS4 and Xbox One the following May.
