Portal 2 emerged as the big winner at Friday’s British Academy Video Game Awards, with Valve’s game walking away with Best Game, Design and Story.
If Portal was the clear winner, then The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was the unlucky loser. Bethesda’s hugely popular RPG won nothing despite being nominated in five categories. Other big titles without BAFTA silverware this morning are Uncharted 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
EA got one up over Activision with Battlefield 3 winning the GAME Award of 2011, as voted for by the gaming public. DICE’s FPS also won Online Multiplayer and Audio Achievement.
Elsewhere Arkham City won best Action game, Shogun 2 won best Strategy game, LittleBigPlanet 2 won best Family game, and Kinect Sports Season Two won best Sports and Fitness (somehow beating FIFA).

Neither Skyrim nor Modern Warfare 3 winning anything was a big shock, while Kinect Sports Season Two beating FIFA 12 and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet beating Bastion was also a surprise.
