The Pokemon Company has revealed more details about the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, including unveiling some new monsters coming to the game, and an addition to the already announced Dynamaxing mechanic known as Gigantamaxing.

The new Pokemon, detailed on the Pokemon website, include Yamper, an electric puppy Pokemon with the Ball Fetch ability that can return Pokeballs that have failed to capture a wild Pokemon, giving you another chance at nabbing them. Then, Rolycoly is a rock-type coal Pokemon who can provide a speed boost with its Steam Engine ability if it’s hit by a fire or water attack.

Duraludon is a Steel/Dragon type Pokemon that has arms of two different shapes, and finally Alcreamie is, well… a sentient cake. But more importantly, Alcreamie has the new ability to Gigantamax, which is shared by (so far) only two other Pokemon; Drednaw and Corviknight.

Gigantamaxing is new for Pokemon Sword and Shield, and acts similar to the already announced new Dynamaxing mechanic in that it turns Pokemon absolutely massive with a huge boost in stats. However, while Dynamaxing is an ability that most Pokemon can use, Gigantamaxing goes one step further and allows the small number of Pokemon that can use it access to a super-powerful G-Max Move, as well as give the Pokemon using it a distinct visual change. To catch these rare Gigantamaxing Pokemon, you’ll have to take part in Max Raid Battles.

There’s a video to go with all of this so you can see the new Pokemon, and the new Gigantamaxing feature, which we’ve embedded below. Finally, The Pokemon Company has also revealed that there will be version-exclusive trainers to battle against in certain gyms in the game as detailed on the game’s Gym Leader profile pages on the official site. In the game’s later stages, those who defeat the gym leaders will also be able to take part in the Champion Cup tournament.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is set to launch on November 15 exclusively for Nintendo Switch, but don’t expect to be able to carry all your Pokemon over.
