The Pokémon Company has announced that two classic Pokémon games will be available on Nintendo Switch Online from today.

As per the latest Pokémon Presents broadcast, those with a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service can now play both Pokémon Stadium 2 on the Nintendo 64 and the Game Boy Color title Pokémon Trading Card Game right now. Each game is available via the Switch Online’s classic game catalogue, and features all the usual upgrades including save states and more, similar to the existing N64 and Game Boy Color games available on the service.

Pokémon Stadium 2 is of course the sequel to the N64 original game that, when they first released, saw Pokémon rendered in 3D for the first time. However, this follow-up includes even more Pokémon than before, as it not only includes the first 151 monsters but now adds a hundred more from the games Pokémon Gold and Silver. In addition, the follow up adds a whole new range of mini-games for you to play either alone or with friends.

Pokémon Trading Card Game, meanwhile, is an RPG that swaps the usual monster hunting for, you guessed it, battles based on the Trading Card Game spin-off from the series. It’s got a wholly original story and its own rules, and is a classic for the discerning Pokémon fan who might not have played this spin-off before.

You’ll need the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription to play Pokémon Stadium 2, but you should be able to play Pokémon Trading Card Game with just a standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Both are available now from their respective classic games tile on the Nintendo Switch dashboard.
