Nintendo has announced that Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver will be released across Europe on March 26 for Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi.

The games mark the beginning of a new development for the Pokemon world, with players across Europe able to continue their Pokemon training in the real world.

Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver will allow players to interact with their Pokemon through the brand new Pokewalker accessory, a pedometer that is exclusively packaged with the games. It works with the game through an infrared connection and allows you to transfer any one of your Pokemon from one of the two games, to the Pokewalker.

In the possession of a real life Pokemon trainer, the Pokewalker counts the number of steps taken in the real world, using these to earn experience points while strengthening the bond between trainer and Pokemon. The more steps taken in the real world, the more Watts are gained – used within the Pokewalker to encounter and catch wild Pokemon using the Poke Radar or to search for hidden items using the Dowsing Machine, which can then be transferred into the game.

Trainers will be able to select which route within the Pokewalker they take, with each route featuring different wild Pokemon to encounter and catch. The Pokewalker can also interact with other Pokewalkers – connect with a friend’s to receive a game item as a gift.

Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver will launch across Europe on March 26.
