Nintendo has today announced that Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl will be released across Europe on July 27. The latest in the long-running Pokémon franchise brings with it a host of new additions to the gameplay, with touchscreen and microphone support, plus Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection making it possible to battle, trade and chat with gamers the world over.

Pokémon trainers have 100 new Pokémon to catch in the beautiful region of Sinnoh, a land of myth and stories. Players begin in the town of Twinleaf and will join up with Pokémon mad Professor Rowan on a mission to document all the species of Pokémon that exist.

Captured Pokémon from the GBA series can also be imported into the new game using the GBA slot on the DS. Players will be able to transfer Pokémon from Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald. Players who have completed the Manaphy Egg mission, in Pokémon Ranger, will be able to transfer the Manaphy Egg to Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl where it will hatch.

Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl will be available across Europe on July 27 and a special stylus is available for those who pre-order through any GAME store in the UK.
