PlayStation Plus celebrates its first anniversary today, and Sony is at the ready with subscription deals, competitions, and discounts to mark the occasion.
Announcing the news on the PlayStation Blog, Sony also revealed some interesting statistics. While initially PlayStation Plus promised its subscribers £200 of free content, new figures suggest the service has dished out £700 worth of goods – an impressive figure considering the subscription works out at less than £3.50 per month.
For those looking to share the savings, now is a good time to do so. Sony is offering a celebratory incentive for new subscriptions.
If you sign up for a 12 month subscription you’ll not only get an extra 3 months for free, but also SEGA Rally Online Arcade, too.
If you’re a ‘Welcome Back’ Plus user (which many people are after the PSN outage), then you’ll have to wait until your subscription ends before taking advantage of the offers. If you do decide to renew, of course, you’ll also keep the free content you got during the trial.
All Plus subscribers will also be put into a competition, with the top prize being a Sony Entertainment package including 46″ 3D Bravia TV, extra 3D glasses, a PS3 320GB, a PSPgo, PlayStation Move starter pack with extra controller and navigation controllers, a selection of 10 PS3 games, PlayTV and a 5 year PlayStation Plus membership – worth £4000.
PlayStation Plus content has also been updated. The July 6th – August 3rd listings include Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars and Golden Axe on PSN, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on PSone, and the two Minis: Dr. Maybe and the Adventures of Scarygirl and Jelly Car.
The PSN store has also had a bunch of prices slashed.
