Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming platform, which offers PlayStation 3 games for a £12.99 a month subscription, is to be shut down on all platforms except PS4 and PC, Sony has announced.

From August 15, 2017 the following devices will no longer support PS Now:

  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
  • All Sony Bravia TV models (May 15 cut off for some 2016 models)
  • All Sony Blu-ray player models
  • All Samsung TV models

Furthermore, from March 15 you will no longer be able to sign up to PS Now through the above mentioned devices.

So why is Sony turning off support? “After thoughtful consideration, we decided to shift our focus and resources to PS4 and Windows PC to further develop and improve the user experience on these two devices,” said Sony in a blog post. “This move puts us in the best position to grow the service even further.”

Those who will be affected by the change should also remember to turn off the auto-renewal for their PS Now subscription a month before the service end date.
