PlayStation has unveiled a new range of Dualshock 4 wireless controllers, and they’re really nice. The three special edition controllers will be released on October 17 and come in Red, Blue and Crystal. Sadly, the UK won’t be getting Red or Blue options, because Brexit. Probably.

The Crystal Dualshock returns with the ‘ redesigned touch pad that reveals the light bar from above to provide in-game cues, such as your health status’. But no-one ever uses it for that do they?

Alongside the return of an upgraded Crystal controller, there’ll be special edition Red and Blue models. Both of the new colour crystal editions feature that same lovely translucent design.

The unveiling of these new Dualshock controllers is probably an apology for that travesty it unveiled last month, which thankfully will never be released on these shores. However any apology is rejected because the UK will only get the Crystal version. At least we get more than Russia, which gets nothing, though that’s scant consolation. I bought the Blue Crystal Dualshock on my PS2 aeons ago and I loved it. This time around the Red Crystal Dualshock 4 certainly catches my eye and I can’t even buy it, which is maddening. Seriously Sony, what did the British Isles do to you?

The Crystal edition Dualshock 4 wireless controllers will be released on October 17. Crystal range not available in Russia. Red Crystal and Blue Crystal are not available in the UK.
