Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in Europe on February 25, 2016, EA has announced, slightly ahead of its previously announced spring launch date.

The game replaces the delayed Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, another EA title that had been due to arrive the same day. That won’t now launch until May 2016.

Players who pre-order Garden Warfare 2 will also receive immediate access to the Grass Effect Z7-Mech, a Mass Effect-inspired Zombie mech that features the ability to pull enemies closer to you, plus 14 emojis that players can use to customise their characters.

“At PopCap, we love to excite our fans, and couldn’t be more ready and thrilled to bring Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 into their hands earlier than expected,” said creative director Justin Wiebe. “From the immersive worlds and the crazy characters, to the new ways to play such as Backyard Battleground, we’re incredibly proud of the game we’re building. This is a crazy shooter filled with fan-requested features as well as all-new experiences that will make this unlike any other game in the genre.”

If you’re an EA Access subscriber, you can download the original Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare to your Xbox One at no additional cost.
