Popcap has officially confirmed Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville in a new gameplay trailer.

A trademark sprouted up for Battle for Neighborville last month, and a trailer leaked as well that revealed new characters. The Night Cap ninja mushroom will make an appearance and disappearance, along with the defense class warrior Oak and Acorn. Snapdragon is a new fiery fighter, and the trailer offers a snapshot of these new heroes in action. The new undead are the Electric Slide, ‘80s Action Hero, and Space Cadet, all of whom will bring every kind of chaos to Neighborville.

Free-roam regions are coming to the series, along with online multiplayer for all platforms and couch co-op for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Founder’s Edition is on offer too, an early access initiative that will allow players to enjoy six weeks of weekly content releases as new parts of the game go live ahead of launch.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville will launch for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 18. Watch the announcement trailer below.
