Phantom announces publishers

Infinium Labs’ Phantom console may be regarded dubiously from certain industry quarters, yet a recent announcement by the firm could prove something of an eye opener.

Atari, Codemasters, Eidos and most interestingly, Vivendi Universal, are all confirmed as registered to the machine.

With the promise of PC games downloadable through a broadband connection, the Phantom’s apparent desire to pre-empt the downloading rush would be a movement most certainly augmented by the possibility of Vivendi-published Half Life 2.

Its early days yet, and mostly speculation, but the very notion of Valve’s sequel will lend the Phantom brand some much needed credibility. More on this when we get it…
