Bungie has announced that Peter Jackson, famous for his low budget gore fests Braindead and Bad Taste (ok, he is more famous for the Lord of the Rings trilogy), will be acting as executive producer for the Halo movie. The film has already had a script penned by Alex Garland (he wrote the script for the surprisingly good 28 Days Later).
Peter Jackson is also bringing WETA Digital with him. If you didn’t know, WETA is the special effects house that brought Middle Earth to life. They now have a somewhat different challenge in the shape of the Covenant and Flood. So, things are looking rosy for the Halo movie, but big decisions such as a director and cast are yet to be decided. My current pick would have to be Christopher Nolan to direct (Batman begins was great), but I can’t think of any Hollywood actors who would fit the Master Chief part.
