Winning Eleven 2012, the Japanese version of our PES 2012, shot to the top of the Japanese video game chart for the week ending October 9 with sales of 272,036 copies on PS3.

The latest instalment in Konami’s football series narrowly outsold AKB1/48: If I Loved an Idol in Guam, which shifted 236,587 copies on PSP.

Sales during the week were extremely top-heavy, with the No.3 game, F1 2011, selling only 26,574 copies. RAGE is new at No.8 with 11,320 copies sold on PS3 and at No.14 on Xbox 360 with 7,853 copies sold.

Console sales took a dip, but it is the Nintendo 3DS which continues to move the most units – 58,504 units was almost double the PS3’s 30,362 units.
