Konami has today released details of the handheld versions of PES 2008, leveraging unique features of each system.

The Nintendo DS version includes Exhibition, Penalty Shoot-Out and Konami Cup modes, and a new World Tour mode which sees players face off against elite teams from around the world.

The DS’ wireless functionality is also being used, offering four-player games when all players have the game, and one-on-one matches using the system’s game sharing abilities. DS players can also trade in-game footballers with friends and collect coins to fund the purchase of world class players.

The PSP version is to feature much of the same feature set found in the PS2 game, including the all-new World Tour mode and expanded editing options. Data sharing between the PS2 and PSP also returns, but has been reworked making it possible to continue building a team while away from the home system – Master League, World Tour and Cup Mode data can now be swapped between the PSP and PS2.

We’re still waiting to hear back from Konami regarding wireless multiplayer options with the PSP version.

Look out for both titles early in the New Year.
