For the week ending November 25 Konami’s World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (PES 2008 in Europe) notched up combined sales of more than 430,000 units. The PlayStation 2 version took the majority of sales, with 293,926 units, followed by the PlayStation 3 version which moved an impressive 141,423 units. The Xbox 360 version didn’t quite match its counterparts, charting just inside the Top 20 at No.18.

Despite strong sales it was Square Enix’s Dragon Quest IV which took the top spot, shifting a staggering 597,301 units in its first week. It was also another strong week for fellow DS title Mario Party DS, adding a further 109,522 units and edging nearer sales of half a million. Newcomer Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games made a respectable start with sales of 62,550, but SEGA will be hoping the game proves to have some legs – or at the very least a second wind when the summer Olympic Games begin in 2008.

With a Nintendo DS game sitting pretty at the top of the chart, it’s no shock to see DS hardware sales leading the way. Sales of 116,694 put the DS comfortably at the top, followed by the PSP with 75,027 units. The Wii pulled back ahead of the PS3 – 54,362 vs 50,564 – and the Xbox 360 saw a minor surge in sales up by around 600 units to 7,117.

Lifetime Wii sales in Japan now stand at 3.87 million units, with the PS3 at 1.39 million and Xbox 360 at only 0.467 million.
