Following the news that Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions will adopt Resident Evils Mercenaries’ controversial 3DS save system, Namco Bandai has explained that this was a ‘miscommunication’, and players will be able to delete their data after all.

Namco Bandai has said that “the save data can be erased in the game, if you press “ABXYLR” when you boot the game.”

Before this, one player’s high scores would be permanently attached to that cartridge – a huge concern for anybody who might purchase the game second-hand.

Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions is due for release August 26 for 3DS.

ABXYLR? Was this always intended to be a method for erasing data? Seems a little unconventional, no? Or is Namco leaving a dev-cheat on the cartridge to make things easier? Hmm.
